Choosing Flowers To Suit The Personality Of The Receiver

Flowers & Personalities

While certain flowers and their colours can convey a specific message, people are generally drawn to certain flowers, colours and arrangements that tend to suit or reflect their personality. The choice of flower or colour does not always need to signify the senders intentions but rather can be chosen to reflect or suit the personality of the recipient. For example:

Traditional
People who tend not to be adventuresome but rather prefer the comfort of familiar surroundings and tend to be down to earth, would relate well to an arrangement in a maybe, ceramic type bowl, of mixed flowers more in the traditional style with a variety of ‘traditional’ flowers, like, roses, carnations, gladiolus.

Romantic
A gentle, caring, generous person might well be attracted to a  cut flower bouquet of soft colours, perfumed and pretty. These may be presented in a beautiful vase, soft and delicate.  The flowers can include, roses, spray carnations, lisianthus, babys breath or other soft filler like Queen Anne lace, freesias.  A pretty bunch of spray roses and soft filler is always acceptable for the romantic.

Natural

These people are generally down to earth and prefer a simple uncluttered lifestyle. They would be attracted to green plants, garden flowers and rustic accessories.  They usually like the native bouquets.  Earthy tones in banksias, proteas, kangaroo paw, leucodendrons, wax flower, gum.  These flowers lend themselves to the natural style and are usually best presented as a cut flower bouquet.  These are no fuss, no nonsense bouquets, look great wrapped in Hessian or kraft paper tied with raffia

Expressive
People who are given to expressing their emotions and feelings through creative, artistic endeavours would be drawn to unusual arrangements of colour, form, texture and floral type.  If you wish to send flowers to an expressive personality, then, I would suggest the more exotic flowers, like tropicals, bird of paradise, heliconias, gingers, wonderful tropical leaves and other elements the florist can come up with, maybe bamboo, reeds etc. The florists usually loves these as they can be their creative best.  If these are sent as cut flowers to go into a vase after arrival, then they need to be done in the modern style, not the usual bouquet style.

Contemporary

These people tend to be spontaneous and more inclined to follow a trend not set one. They tend to live life from moment to moment without any great life plan or motive, they would be attracted to asymmetrical arrangements consisting mainly of large full blossom flowers and mainly monochromatic, can be cut flower bouquet or in a container of some kind but this needs to be whatever the latest trend is.  Your florist will have just the thing.
